Nobel Prize in Literature winner announced on October 10
The Nobel Prize winner in literature was announced to Han Kang, though the Prize will not be officially awarded until November. The Nobel Committee praised the South Korean writer for her “intense poetic prose that confronts historical traumas and exposes the fragility of human life.” Her work includes The Vegetarian, The White Book, and Human Acts.
Book Banning News and Alerts
An Arkansas court has just ruled that Crawford County Public Library must return all previously segregated books to circulation. The ruling comes after several residents deemed certain books “inappropriate” and demanded they be placed in specific “social sections” away from regular circulation. There’s currently a second lawsuit in the state challenging provisions of Arkansas “Harmful to Minors” law Act 372.
